Choux pastry is not my friend
What is it about me that choux pastry doesn't like? No matter which recipe I try (I've tried 2 or 3 so far) I can't seem to get my wooden spoon to stand in the bowl (as per the recipe instructions). I whip it, I mix it, I beat that dough until my arm feels like its going to drop off, but still no "thick and shiny" choux. Argh! : ) I baked it anyway, just see if they would work, but alas no... after 20 minutes in the oven, all I had were flat brown discs of hard pastry. Damn.
What kind of French wife am I going to be if I can't even make a decent profiterole or eclair?!??! ; )
So, after that kitchen disaster, I had to redeem myself and I made chocolate macadamia brownies instead. They were a complete success (yay!) except that I think the recipe could be a bit more chocolatey... maybe I'll add a bit more cocoa next time.
So, after my cooking adventures in the kitchen, a pretty lazy day...
